Veterans Day Celebration and "Downton Abbey" Screening

In honor of all of those who have served the country, the Legion of Honor offers free general admission on Veterans Day to all veterans and active military personnel with military ID.

Book of Gold

On Armistice Day in 1924, the California Palace of the Legion of Honor opened its doors to the public. Dedicated to the 3,600 California soldiers, sailors, and marines who gave their lives during World War I, the Legion of Honor pledged to “honor the dead while serving the living.”

Participants look at five works of art for 10 minutes each and then meet together to talk about their experience. That’s it. Simple by design, the goal is to focus on the art and the art of seeing.

Please bring your photo ID and proof of residence (zip codes 94122 and 94116) to enjoy free general admission.  Proof of residence can include a piece of mail, utility bill, or current government issued photo ID.

District 4 Day at the Legion of Honor
