Page Views Meetup: "Gods in Color"

January 5, 2018, 11:00 am12:30 pm
Page Views Meetup: "Gods in Color"

Gunn Theater

Explore the fascinating history of color and pigment in the next meeting of the Fine Arts Museums’ book club, Page Views. Dr. Renée Dreyfus, curator in charge of ancient art and interpretation, will lead us in a discussion of the special exhibition Gods in Color and our Page Views selection, Color: A Natural History of the Palette by Victoria Finlay. Gods in Color presents reconstructions of well-known sculptural works from ancient Greece and Rome, as well as original antiquities from the Mediterranean world. See classical sculptures as they were intended in the Legion of Honor galleries and join us after to dig into concepts of classical aesthetic and the history of pigment.

Can’t make it to the Legion of Honor? Catch the event on our Facebook page as it streams live!

Ticket Information

Free after museum admission. No additional ticket required, but we encourage you to visit Gods in Color after our discussion for the richest experience (special exhibition fee applies). Gods in Color is on view now through January 7, 2018.
