Laura Dowling is chief floral designer at the White House, a position she assumed in October 2009. In this position, she manages decor and flowers for a broad range of events, including state dinners, parties, and receptions, as well as creating flowers for the White House state rooms, the East Wing and West Wing offices, and the private residence. She works in the “new garden” style, a romantic style of flower arranging with free-flowing lines of vines and flowers emanating from a classical bouquet.

Join January artist-in-residence John Zaklikowski as he explores the connections between art and science. Zaklikowski will delve into projects and utilize art materials aimed at the study of perception and optical illusions, and the interplay of art, science, literature, and cultural studies. A number of his large-scale assemblages and other works will be on view in the gallery.

Live Music by Gabriel Goldberg

Gabriel Goldberg is a San Francisco–based composer and musician who has been said to have the voice of an angel. The exotic qualities of his instrumentation stem from his studies of the relationships among music, resonant spaces, and spiritual experience, and he creates immersive aural experiences in site-specific concerts.
