Art after School offers an in-depth exploration of world cultures through the museum's extensive collections of art from Africa, Mesoamerica, Oceania, and North America. Through careful observation and engaging art activities, these classes explore the connections between the visual arts, language arts, and social studies.

Friday Nights at the de Young: Past Discoveries and Future Relics

Past Discoveries and Future Relics is an evening of sensory exploration revealing hidden worlds of experience in and around the de Young. Tonight's public programs are presented in partnership with Black Rock Arts Foundation and in celebration of the Urbanauts, de Young Artist Fellows Sean Orlando and Matthew Passmore.

Colin B. Bailey became the Director of the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco in June 2013. He oversees the de Young Museum in Golden Gate Park and the Legion of Honor in Lincoln Park.

Prior to his arrival in California, Bailey served as Deputy Director and Peter Jay Sharp Chief Curator at The Frick Collection in New York. He had been Deputy Director and Chief Curator at the National Gallery of Canada, Senior Curator at the Kimbell Art Museum in Ft. Worth, and held curatorial posts at the Philadelphia Museum of Art and the J. Paul Getty Museum earlier in his career.
