The Legion of Honor transports you to London, England during the time of Oscar Wilde for a look at the Aesthetic Movement. See how a rebellious group of young artists changed the culture with their vision of “art for art’s sake” as examined in the special exhibition The Cult of Beauty: The Victorian Avant- Garde, 1860–1900 (February 18–June 17, 2012). Don’t miss an exclusive series of programs featuring music, costumes, hands-on art making and more, presented on select Saturdays and Sundays throughout the exhibition. Act as a participant in an artists’ salon or sketch a model reminiscent of James McNeill Whistler’s muses in the halls of the museum.

The museum will be activated with exciting programs from noon - 3 p.m. on the following days:

Saturday, May 12: Special Lectures: "Music, Muses & Divas" with Peter Trippi and Tim Barringer
Sunday, June 17: Film Screening: "The Picture of Dorian Gray" (1945) with introduction by Sean Martinfield

Programs are free after museum admission, unless otherwise stated. For more information email gstock@famsf.org or call 415.750.7694.
