Docent Lecture: "The Garden: An Alfresco Studio for Impressionist Painters," Carol Nelson
This event is expired.
Gustave Caillebotte, Sunflowers along the Seine, ca. 1885–1886. Oil on canvas. Private collection
The garden served as inspiration for many Impressionist painters. Among the most enthusiastic gardeners were Gustave Caillebotte, Claude Monet, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, and Paul Cézanne. Which came first—an interest in the garden or in painting—is not always easy to determine.
Lecture is free to the public. Museum admission is required.
