Gallery 8 at the Legion
This hands-on workshop will explore the life and forms of letters, how their shapes evolve, and how they gather to create words, language, and meaning at many levels.
For thirty years, visual artist Todd Gilens has been exploring the juxtaposition of flat images and everyday spaces. Working with materials as diverse as playing cards, concrete, beans and paint, Todd’s work has been seen in theaters and storefronts, on people’s refrigerators, and in rock crevices and condominium courtyards throughout the United States and abroad. His letterforms sculpture for Laurel Park was commissioned by the Richmond Art Center, and Endangered Species, a buswrap project, has been circulating in San Francisco since January.
