Family Day, featuring hands on art-making for children, live period music by City Opera SF, and hair sculptures celebrating Marie-Antoinette by Atelier Emmanuel for children and adults.
City Opera SF is an opera and pop-opera troupe that creates extraordinary and elegant theme performances for Bay Area events. Since its inception at the end of 2009, its talented local artists have appeared at the de Young, the North Beach Festival, the Union Street Festival, Ghirardelli Square, and other popular local venues. Excited to return to the Legion of Honor for the opening day celebration of Royal Treasures from the Louvre,
City Opera SF is proud to present an all-French program closely tied with the era, including "Divinités du Styx" from "Alceste"; "J'ai perdu mon Eurydice" from "Orphée et Eurydice" by Gluck; and classic French art songs such as the well-known chanson "Plaisir d'amour" by Martini. Performing in costume during four 20-minute sets are tenor Mete Tasin and soprano Jennifer Muhawi along with electric pianist David Miotke. More information at www.CityOperaSF.com.
Frames Fit for Royalty: Design, construct and collage an elegant “gilded” frame. Take your frame home as a keepsake of your day at the Legion! Use your frame as a prop for your own costumed, royal portrait.
