Weddings at the Legion of Honor

The Legion of Honor looks forward to hosting your private event and creating once-in-a-lifetime experiences for you, your family, and guests. Located in San Francisco’s Lincoln Park, overlooking the Pacific Ocean, Golden Gate Bridge, and San Francisco skyline, the Legion of Honor is notorious for its breathtaking setting—in addition to its impressive collections including Rodin’s The Thinker—and has long been one of the city’s premiere venues for unforgettable weddings and parties.

Whether you are hosting a wedding reception for 400 or a 30th birthday bash for 50, the Legion of Honor offers a variety of event spaces. From breathtaking views of the Golden Gate Bridge to the elegant Rodin Galleries, the Legion of Honor has the perfect space for your wedding, reception, or private event.

Wedding and Private Event Rental Spaces

Entire Building with Court of Honor

Rental of the Entire Building with the Court of Honor includes access for your guests to the Court of Honor, both levels of the Museum, and all galleries. Food, drink, and entertainment are allowed in the Court of Honor, Rodin Galleries, Hall of Antiquities, Café, and Terrace. This rental requires tenting the Court of Honor.
 
Seated capacity: 500 (in tented Court of Honor)
Reception capacity: 1,000

Entire Building

Rental of the Entire Building includes access to all main level galleries and the Terrace Level (which includes the Cafe, Terrace, & Hall of Antiquities). Food, drink, and entertainment are allowed in the Rodin Galleries, Hall of Antiquities, Café, and Terrace.
 
Seated capacity: 200 (in Café)
Reception capacity: 600

Court of Honor—Ceremony*

Ceremonies in the Court of Honor have the backdrop of the Museum’s columned architecture and Rodin’s famous The Thinker. The earliest event start time is 6:30pm.

*Must be rented with another event space

Our renowned Court of Honor can also be rented as a stand-alone space, or in conjunction with our Rodin Galleries, for those events that need a larger dining area but don’t require the entire Museum. This rental requires tenting the Court of Honor.

John A. and Cynthia Fry Gunn Theater—Ceremony

This historic theater is available for an indoor ceremony, seating up to 300 guests. With backstage dressing rooms, the couple will have access to prepare for their moment on stage. Please note that food and beverage are not allowed in the theater.

Seated capacity: 300 seats with more available for wheelchairs

Terrace Level

Rental of the Terrace Level includes the Hall of Antiquities, Café, and Terrace patio. Following your ceremony in front of the Museum or offsite, your guests can enter through the Museum’s main doors and exit at the Terrace Level at the end of the night. Please note this rental does not have gallery access; therefore food and beverages are allowed in all areas.
 
Seated capacity: 150 inside café with dancing area; 200 inside café with dancing on the terrace (may require tenting)
Reception capacity: 325

Rodin Galleries

The museum’s renowned Auguste Rodin sculpture collection is displayed in three connected galleries on the upper level. These beautiful rooms featuring high ceilings, skylights, and marble architecture can be used for cocktail receptions and small ceremonies.
 
Seated capacity: 200 standing; 80 seated in Gallery 10
Reception capacity: 280

Balustrade Lawn—Ceremony*

Ceremonies on the Balustrade Lawn overlook the Golden Gate Bridge and Marin Headlands for the quintessential San Francisco view. The earliest event start time is 6:00pm.
